Wadi Laban

Cable Stayed Bridge Construction Supervision Saudi Arabia

The Wadi Laban Cable-Stayed Bridge is a critical transportation link in Riyadh, currently facing severe congestion that limits its capacity and regional connectivity. To address these challenges, the Royal Commission for Riyadh City (RCRC) has launched a multi-billion Saudi Riyal infrastructure initiative to expand the bridge and improve adjacent road networks over a three-year period.

The project includes the construction of two new bridges alongside the existing structure, increasing traffic lanes from six to eighteen in total, upgrades to surface roads to improve traffic flow, and comprehensive redesign of the Jeddah Road and Western Ring Road interchange to optimize integration and performance. Architectural and lighting design will enhance the bridge’s functionality while establishing it as a regional landmark.

As Prime Consultant, IDS Group leads overall project delivery — overseeing master planning, design, engineering, and multidisciplinary coordination. This large-scale initiative highlights IDS’s expertise in managing complex infrastructure projects and reinforces our commitment to advancing resilient and efficient transportation systems worldwide.

SERVICES PROVIDED:

The Ministry of Transport & Logistics Services

Technical Support Saudi Arabia

Since 2016, IDS Group has embedded a dedicated team within the Saudi Arabia Ministry of Transportation (MoT), providing long-term technical support and advisory services to enhance design review and project delivery processes for highways and bridges.

Our scope includes comprehensive technical reviews, development and implementation of audit procedures for project submittals, training and mentoring Ministry engineers, and updating technical manuals, design standards, and construction specifications. This hands-on collaboration supports continuous improvement in MoT’s project management framework.

This ongoing engagement reflects IDS Group’s expertise in capacity building and technical governance, helping the Ministry achieve significant gains in efficiency, quality, and cost control —ultimately empowering public sector clients to raise infrastructure standards and foster innovation.

The LINE

Provision of Facility and Asset Management Support Services Saudi Arabia

The LINE is a groundbreaking urban development stretching 170 kilometers across northwest Saudi Arabia. This visionary linear city will operate without roads, cars, or emissions, emphasizing sustainability, livability, and human-centered design. Architecturally, it features two parallel towers rising 500 meters, with modular segments delivering a total of approximately 6 million square meters of developed space.

IDS Group contributes specialized technical support services, including comprehensive design reviews of multidisciplinary consultants’ work to ensure alignment with The LINE’s ambitious standards and vision. Additionally, IDS provides targeted technical support, such as developing facility and asset management manuals and conducting specialist technical studies.

This project underscores IDS’s commitment to applying global engineering expertise and technical rigor in support of one of the world’s most innovative and sustainable urban developments, helping realize a new model for future cities.

Taif Airport

Master Plan Saudi Arabia

IDS Consulting was commissioned by the Atiaf Consortium to develop the master plan and architectural design for a new terminal and ancillary buildings at a greenfield airport site in Taif. The design balances functionality with a strong architectural identity, enhancing the passenger experience for arrivals and departures alike.

Inspired by Taif’s mountainous terrain and winding roads, the terminal features a sloping roof that echoes the natural landscape, with linear roof lights guiding passengers from landside to airside while flooding interior spaces with natural light. Islamic geometric patterns define the terminal’s facade, including a Mashrabiya screen that conceals mechanical equipment and provides solar shading along the Hajj pavilion and airside pier.

Sustainability is central to the design, with integrated photovoltaic panels on the sloped roof supporting the airport’s environmental goals. This project highlights IDS’s expertise in delivering culturally responsive, functional, and sustainable architectural solutions in complex infrastructure settings.

Tabuk Region (NEOM)

Study and Design of Multiple Roads Saudi Arabia

IDS Consulting conducted a comprehensive evaluation and redesign of the transportation network along the Red Sea coast to improve traffic flow and regional connectivity. The project focused on a new highway bypass to divert heavy north-south traffic — especially trucks servicing Duba Harbor and the cement factory — away from congested urban areas.

Key elements of the project include two major interchanges, five new intersections, and nine newly designed bridges as part of the bypass. Additionally, IDS designed six coastal bridges connecting five new resort towns to the main coastal highway near Al Wajh, Duba, Umlij, Haql, and Qyal, enhancing accessibility and regional development.

Through innovative bridge designs and advanced engineering techniques, IDS achieved a 30% reduction in bridge cost per square meter, delivering substantial value without sacrificing performance or durability. Rigorous environmental and hydrological assessments ensured resilience and safety in this climate-sensitive region prone to flash flooding and seasonal watercourse variations.

Sharqiyah Development Authority (SDA) Saudi Arabia

Riyadh - Dammam Highway Extension Project

IDS Consulting was engaged to deliver full design services for the Riyadh–Dammam Highway Extension, a critical upgrade to one of Saudi Arabia’s busiest transport corridors. The project involved integrating new infrastructure within a dense urban environment while addressing complex site constraints and minimizing disruption. Key design features include three-level flyover bridges, strategic alignment planning to navigate jurisdictional and right-of-way challenges, and solutions tailored to the region’s harsh environmental conditions.

Following design completion, IDS was appointed to supervise the construction of the 4 km extension through central Dammam City, encompassing two major interchanges, three urban intersections, and sixteen bridges — including complex multi-level overpasses with sharply curved spans. Our multidisciplinary team oversees IFC document reviews, contract administration, and site supervision to ensure quality, safety, and schedule adherence.

This highly complex project requires managing dense utility corridors, proximity to railway lines and pipelines, and stringent environmental and social impact controls. IDS remains committed to delivering a safe, efficient, and sustainable highway extension that supports regional mobility and economic growth while minimizing community disruption.

Gayal Resort Town (NEOM)

Saudi Arabia Bridge & Interchange

As part of the NEOM region’s infrastructure development, IDS Consulting evaluated site conditions and environmental factors to design critical access infrastructure for the Gayal resort town on the Red Sea peninsula. Extensive assessments included deep geotechnical investigations and topographical surveys to inform a resilient and context-sensitive design connecting the resort to the main coastal highway.

The project’s centerpiece is an elevated trumpet interchange providing full directional access, complemented by a collector road crossing the environmentally sensitive Al Bida’a Wadi. Key components include two major bridges and a 180-meter, five-span continuous bridge engineered to withstand seasonal flooding, scour, seismic activity, and soil liquefaction. Hydrological and hydraulic modeling ensured structural resilience and water flow management.

IDS integrated landscape architecture, lighting, and traffic signage to deliver infrastructure that is both highly functional and visually aligned with NEOM’s visionary standards. This project underscores IDS’s ability to harmonize technical rigor, environmental stewardship, and design excellence in one of the world’s most ambitious urban developments.
